strange light leak on my m2....some photos..bad leica luck

I certainly wouldn't send the camera away just because of a tiny nick in the film pressure plate. Mask it off, hit it w/ a LIGHT spray of flat black paint, take the tape off after it dries, and buff it w/ a cloth to remove any odd loose paint. it will work fine after that. Just keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't go back to how it was. And make absolutely sure you aren't getting filter flare that looks like light leaks. I would recommend never taking the lens off unless you're in a really dark place either. This is a known problem w/ these cameras.

It's become a real source of displeasure with me seeing how much less reliable the rangefinder cameras are compared to SLR's. I like shooting my Leica R lenses on a Leicaflex and a Nikon w/ an adapter, and they work flawlessly all the time. W/ rangefinders I have had a ton of trouble. Gave up on the cheap Russian cameras, and have put a ton of money into M3's to get them to work properly. But they're really old. Maybe I should have just bought an M6 to begin with, but I see that hasn't really worked for you either. I had several Bessa cameras, including a Bessa R and a Bessa R3A and they never failed, but I don't like them. Just not made well enough for me despite being reliable. If I could live w/ the smaller viewfinder i would go to a Hexar RF in a minute, but it's too small for my eyesight.
