I discovered a mysterious note, or rather a list, in my Zorki's camera bag. I wonder what's on it. So someone who knows Russian language should be able to decipher this script for me...

Then again, it might not be Russian at all, but rather Ukrainian or some other language with Cyrillic script...

But without further ado, the note:

OK, so this is how it is going:
"Shooting order:
1. Put the lens on
2. Set the aperture
3. Cock the shutter ("mechanism" literally)
4. Set the shutetr speed
5. Focus (left window)
6. Compose (right window) "

This in indeed in Russian.

Oh, you welcome.
It seems past 17 years far away from the "Empire of Evil" (joking, no offence to our Russian RFF friends) did not wipe my Russian skills away...LOL

If I were you I'd print out

1. Pull the lens out and lock
...

Otherwise you may forget the first

Yeah Noel, but that won't be an issue for too long 'cause I bought this Jupiter 8 lens off eBay just this morning. Can't wait to fondle that tube...

Or a Stasi or KGB list of Finnish informants (mostly today's prominent politicians, no doubt) during the Cold War, scary.

I have a LTM J8 as well and it does really perform well, but it is bulky. The big advantage is the easy availability of screw in filters and screw in hoods.

The only hood I've seen in 36mm push on is the Leitz and this is (costs) typically more then a Zorki 1 in the shopes here.
