Strange white dot in the photos

I 've just uploaded two pictures that exemplify the problem. The first is withe faulty Summicron, the second with the Summilux. Here are the links:

I 've taken loads of photos like these; in every single one of those taken with the Summicron outdoors the spot is there. I think Fred's explanation above is on the right track. I was told by the shop that sold me the lens that it was recently serviced, so, perhaps there is some humidity trapped in the lens. I sent it back yesterday, I am waiting to hear from them.

This is the most fascinating lens problem I think I've ever seen! Make sure to post if you ever come to a conclusion. :)

I've been following this one right along. I admit I'm totally stumped.

Hello,

Here is what's possibly the penultimate forensic analysis of my Summicron misadventure. The photography shop contacted me earlier today, as they quickly examined the negatives I sent them along. They obviously accepted that there is something amiss with the lens and they graciously agreed to exchange it for another lens of my choice. Their first stab on the matter is that something went wrong in the servicing of the lens. The lens had been cleaned, repolished and recoated for tracees of funghus, and, it appears, the recoating was what created the white spot. How and why they will tell me in a couple of weeks when they will have fully examined the lens and will have got to the bottom of the 'Summicron mystery' (that's when I get to have my negs with all these 'artistic' test pictures of brick walls, pavements, trunks of trees, etc. Yeah!). I will update the thread accordingly if their final verdict is significantly different from their first take on the matter.

P.S. Oh, yeah. The lens I am having instead is a new, out of the box Planar ZM. That will take some of the Summicron blues away, I guess. Of course I hope I come across another Summicron DR at some point. Who knows, may be I will get third time lucky :)
