There are quite a few bloggers out there who call themselves "masters" of the street genre. One posts so called "Street Pills", sayings, quips, that pertain to some knowledge of the genre.

While I'm no prude, I thought the latest "Street Pill" was over the top. From his blog titled, "Nasty". A blog that professes an anti-aesthetic attitude for stark contrast and lots of gritty grain. An aesthetic that can be interesting, but I find his images quite lacking.

Your thoughts?

Having not seen his work.
To me his "pill" sounds like a case of "The lesser man makes the louder statement". 😛
Either that or maybe I've never been to that particluar city!

I've found several of these "street gurus" to have cliques. If you aren't part of their clique or invested dollars on taking a street photography course from them, you are nothing. They are so deceived in thinking their work is tops. While some do have good work, others let their ego get the best of them.

One thing that I think is missing from the mentor's section here is someone who really knows & loves street photography. There is some good work by those in our own gallery. Mlehrman comes to mind for one.

Most likely this boo boo is too busy with self esteem drive on the streets.
You would believe, but decade or more ago Vegas taxi drivers used same word to describe how they feel about new shopping mall at the Strip.

Revolting. Sorta hoped we were over this phase of little boys amped up on Mountain Dew assaulting people on the street and calling it photography.

Arseholes like this make it harder for those of us doing actual street photography.

Street photography ignites discussion around here the same way that Leica does ... these two subjects seem to be a core ethos here at RFF.

As for the streets of a city being like a juicy vagina ... that boy really needs to get out more! 😀

That kid is just a vulgar ass.

Want to learn something about street photography, look no further than right here on RFF for some incredible talent. Jim Shulman comes to mind among many others.

He's proven he's a moron with that quote. It's both tasteless and stupid.

Just remind them that Vivian Maier never took any photo courses or joined any clique and she's better than any of them.

We've got several great street photographers on this forum...NY Dan comes to mind..
