Does an insightful book on street photography technique exist? I have read "Bystander" for the historical perspective. Now I am looking for a technically oriented book.
 
Street photography is "Done". Haven't you heard? You should have done a forum search before posting. (just kidding).

Seriously, I've never seen a book like that. Probably have better luck just searching the internet or ask here for info rather than looking for a book. You'll find something. Most likely bits and pieces about how others have managed.

I've not seen a "How To" book. But I've picked up a lot of useful information by looking at books of, for example, Winogrand, Friedlander, Frank, and Lyon photos; and reading as much about these photographers as I can find. Often the photo books include text about the photographers, their methods and sources of inspiration. By the way, the new book about Fred Herzog (check Amazon) is a good example of what I'm talking about: lots of great photos to inspire you, and then a lot of text about his life and methods.
 
Thank you for providing the excellent links on "Street" photography.

Considering how many technical titles exist on landscape and portrait photography, I find strange no one has ever published a detailed work on the "Leica/Street" approach. Maybe publishers believe all photographers want to be Ansel Adams, not Cartier-Bresson.
