I'll try to find it but I'm not offering any guarantees Roel...Roel said:Is this article you mention by any chance online available? Sounds like an interesting article. HCB is one of my heroes and an inspiration. I liked the HCB - a retrospective with some of his work here in Amsterdam.

BTW, there is a new "book" (actually it's an exhibition catalog) published of HCB's early work. It's called Scrapbook and available at online bookstores. It shows some contact sheets so you can see the bad stuff he did

I got 40 out 90 at my last attempt. I'm happy, they're not all art but they hang together. Series/essays are a tad bit less restrictive and more condusive to street photography as a genre. Check it out for yourself at:

Very true!
Streetphotography is one of the most fascinating topics but also one of the most difficult ones.
1 or 2 good shots per roll (or in 30 pics) is quite satisfying, I suppose.

Zero out of 4 rolls so far.
I just got into rangefinders and street shooting, and was getting a little depressed with my total lack of interesting pics so far. I feel much better after reading the post here.
I guess I am going to have to keep on shooting lots more

I tend to be a selective shooter. For me the luck comes and goes in waves; it seem on occasion I'll have a roll with an unusual number of good shots, then there'll be roll after roll with boring stuff. I like drewbarb's commentary; that really rings true for me also. Sometimes I can tell at the moment of exposure that I've got a keeper in the can, but often I see something in the films afterwards that surprises and clicks... something subconscious was going on when I made the shot that is evident later.
