Saw this on pn today. Long but interesting article. Brought out a lot of vitriol amongst the Leica faithful

The practice of holding a 2.5 X 3 inch digicam at arms length, or a cell phone cam the same way seems to have become acceptable and imperceptable at the same time in todays world. Try standing in a mall or next to a security guard and bring a RF up to your eye and see what the reaction is. It is funny, maybe the digi point and shoots will be the next wave in stealthy street photog's gear, it's worth thinking about.
I was going through U.S. Customs a few weeks ago, had my Leica around my neck, when we got to the agent he told me I had to put away my camera, not wanting to arouse any suspicion or the wrath of my wife I complied. We answered his questions like good little travelers and went on our way, but I wondered why he didn't make me put away my cell phone cam that I had out, on the counter, my guess is he wasn't very perceptive (I should have strapped a bunch of Cuban cigars I wanted to bring back to my cell phone, maybe he wouldn't notice

There may be something in that, Todd. I attract the least amount of attention when I use a small Canon S45 and hold it up tourist style. Folks probably think I am a tourist, except for my tipping
