As announced some time ago in thread "Who else is too chicken to...", there was a street festival here last week, and it was a wonderful opportunity to take street shots without anyone paying much attention...
I burned several rolls of film with my M2, and I'll really have to put up a Web page describing the event and showing the photos (mostly B&W). I often "got caught in the act", but nobody minded being photographed.
Here's one of the better ones...

That's a great thing with wide apertures (and ultrawideangle lenses too), they never know what exactly you are focusing/framing on

Hmm. I realize that there are some serious grammar problems in my above post, related to tense shifts
Excellent shot Denis. I am the chicken that posted the thread last week, but I did work on my shyness. I went to a Fair last Friday and did end up taking around 40 shots. I will post some when I have them processed.
I have to say that I did watch a lot of opportunities instead of photographing them, but this was my first step.
There is a fair in my town this weekend, so I plan on spending time there Friday with my camera in hand.

My wife was an English major in college, I am so glad she doesn't read anything I write. Type away with no fear, I do, have you seen some of my spelling mistakes?

Hmm, talking about being shy, i'm too chicken to even LOOK at something that would deserve being photographed

My M5s need red dots!
Neat capture! She really pops out of the picture. Inquiring minds want to know... what lens did you use?
Keep'em coming!
And, Rover, hurry up to post around here too!

Lens was collapsible Summicron M (the one with the flare problem, which isn't visible here). I decided to let it be as it is - but I'll have to be careful to shoot with the sun behind my back.
Another one...

Denis, do you get the lens flare when you use a lens hood, or are these shot without one?

Alll those shots were taken with the hood - albeit not the original Leitz one. I used a generic one I had for my Jupiter 8 - it's a "push-on" type - see photo below.
The problem is with the Summicron - it has hazy front element - damaged coating and lots of cleaning marks.
However, it's OK for indoor shots and for photos with no strong light sources - as in the first two photos above.

Great shots, I like your grip too. I find if you shoot with a 35mm or wider you can get really close to people without them knowing you are shooting them, just don't center them in the frame and they will think you are shooting past them.

Nice photos denishr. I agree with Todd in using wide-angle lenses for street photography. If the subject stare at me with an accusing look, I wil just look beyond him as though I am shooting something behind him.
I did that, but I noticed that the people I was trying to shoot leaned out away from what they thought I was shooting, so I am sure they will be all contorted when I get the prints back tomorrow.
I will also say that on my first real trip out, people were mostly friendly. A couple folks, not my subjects, caught me and asked interestingly what I was photographing. Others joked with a smile that I would have to pay for the picture I had taken. These were the vendors.

Nice shot, Denis. In a couple of days, I'll soup my roll from last week, and post the snap of the young lady that flashed me, while I was street shooting. Nothing outrageous. I guess she just wanted me to take a pic of her bare breasts' as I was composing another street scene....

WEhich reminds me, I have to explain and describe the "Columbo" style of shooting. Will do it tomorrow, when time permits.

Gee, nobody ever flashes me when I'm shooting. No luck at all, lol. Rover, one of these days I'll have to go shooting with you.
