Street Photos with Cv 25mm/4 + Kodak Film

Here are some photos I have recently taken with the M6 and CV 25mm/4 using C-41 B&W film by Kodak. I changed the color to greyscale with PS and used autoadjust and some curving.

I set the distance scale to 3 ft and the aperture to f 16. This way, I had almost anything in focus.

The M6 is whisper quiet and the CV is small, so it was pefect macthed set for street photography.

I don't often do street photography, so I hope that some of these photos are good. I shot from the hip.

A 25 Canon on a Model P is my favorite street rig too. I usually shoot w/ the lens at 5.6 and 8 feet.

Have you used a CV 25mm lens? I wonder how your Canon 25mm performs wide open compared to a CV 25mm lens.One of these days, I will compare both lenses. Lens comparisons are good for the soul [I made this up]. 😀

Nice shots, Raid. I just got one right before my trip, and am starting to really like it. I almost never do hip shots, but it seems to work pretty well for that. I also find it really sharp. These were shot on tri-x.

Cool idea and a great place to try it. I love Amsterdam. One thing though - I thought it was my monitor, but maybe they are not the best scans - your photos don't look very sharp. Like I said - I thought it was my monitor, yet, other's pics look fine. I'd love to see a better scans of your to see what that 25mm lens can do.
Oh, did you know that you can get your butt kicked for taking pics in Red Lights. 😉 (guess how I know? lol )

nice shots. I have had the cv 25 for 2 months, but still have some problems getting used to it. First, i have a feeling that I see a lot more through the VF than what the lens captures, so i had some weirdly cropped shots. second, it seems that I am not getting close enough to the subject, and a lot of shots come out kind of boring.

I try to use a distance of no more than 4- 6 ft. from my subject if streetshooting. "Up close and personal" so to speak. For me, the 25 is the best for this style of shooting.

I like all these, but I think the young ladies would not like you to use a wide angle for the shots from behind. It may not be the most flattering.

First, i have a feeling that I see a lot more through the VF than what the lens captures

Do you have the new style finder with the frame lines, or the old style one without?

I was recently checking the field of view of my CV finders against the fov of my Olympus OM SLR lenses (there are red lines drawn on the bedroom wall now, with various numbers written against them - thankfully it's scheduled for redecoration). Obviously with the SLR you can't see more than the actual fov, and I was surprised to discover that my CV viewfinders show significantly less of the actual field of view than the OM. My CV 25 viewfinder framelines pretty closely match the fov of my OM 28mm lens, with my OM 24mm appearing quite a lot wider than the CV 25 framelines. Also, my OM 35mm lens has a wider fov than that shown by the 35mm framelines of my Bessa-R.

Of course, if you have the old CV 25 finder with no framelines, that probably does show more than the actual field of view - the edges of my new style finder would be too wide.
