I just got one for Christmas. I love this camera! It comes with me everywhere, handles great, excellent image quality is excellent and this is coming from someone who has a Nikon D800E and a Leica M9 this little beast can hold its own no question. I read up a lot about this camera and its better than I thought.. Nice review and photographs.. Its a keeper no doubt about it..

That is easily the hairiest person I've ever seen. Are you sure that wasn't a sea otter wearing a baseball cap?

Great photos! Love the review as well. You've reviewed the camera very nicely from a street photographer's perspective.

Good read and fine pictures!
Smashed my GRD4 some days ago when it hit concret attached to a Gecko mount. Just don't have enough cash for the GR (but now 2 chargers and 5 batteries)!
Different from other digital cameras prices are stable (at least here in Germany). I understand why....

Great review and smashing photos! Thanks. I miss my GR... had to sell it to finance other tempting gear. I will definitely replace it one day. I've owned several of the GR camera models, both film and digital. They've all produced superb image quality.

Very nice review has a feel of real photographer not gearhead.
Short but all I want to know about unknown to me camera.
The only remaining question I have after this review is how long battery will last if it is street or beach photography somewhere up north where water is frozen.

it lasts quite a bit, at least 300-400 before I get to 50%
great review, I love my GR as tiny street camera, love it also with flash and for those that wear glasses, the Voigtlander 25mm VF works nicely in it.
28mm however is an odd focal length for me, it's either too wide or too short for me in the street but it's awesome as landscape camera with the 21mm.
my only complaint with the GR is that it can be a dust magnet, I've got some dust stuck in between the lens and it's currently at Ricoh getting serviced

Love my GR. I think it's my favorite camera! (wish it had a 23mm lens instead of the 18, for 35mm FoV)

I thought that, too. "A nice compact second camera." But it quickly became my favorite and most used camera. The best camera value out there, in my view.

In answer to the cold question, I was using my GRD III for several hours shooting when it was in the twenties (Fahrenheit) here in NY last year and it would freeze open occasionally and wouldn't operate at all. Once it warmed up it would open and close and work fine. Very frustrating but I guess we both needed to warm up.
Battery life wasn't an issue however.

My GR is taking a little getting used to, for some reason I seem to be able to play fast and loose with the RX100 more than I can with the GR.
The GR wants me to do it properly, that's not a bad thing at all, and the results when I do make me smile every time.
