Street shot results in losing job

In fact the picture has little to do with him being fired. It was him being a.... well, I don't think I'm allowed to say it here, so I just say it is him being a rude racist.

Yeah, the picture was most definitely incidental to the entire issue.

But...he did get his publicity out of the stunt so I am sure he will come back in a 2nd public life to haunt us all again.

I agree but "Radical Racist Tweets Results in Losing Job" probably wouldn't even result in anyone blinking an eye, let alone commenting.

I bet if he was shooting film instead of digital the woman would've realized he was an artist immortalizing her in a pastiche of silver halides and been flattered and non-violent. Maybe she was one of the listeners to his ho-hum Xm show - that's justifiable assault -- that's why it's called ASSault. Either way, he can't complain about being beat up -- his ex-wife beat him up the worst -- in court -- she had famed "bloated" attorney Dominic Barbara as her barrister. Loosing a fortune from his job at Xm, terrible -- having it come as the result of a tweating -- priceless. :)

I know how the woman felt, one time I took a selfie in Times Sq and to show solidarity I bitch-slapped myself! Hashtag #unemployed-moron! Hashtag #streetshotheardroundtheworld! (in honor of July 4)

Opie should hire the woman to replace Anthony as his on-air partner and sidekick -- then he would be more evenly matched to take on Howard and Robin. Holy boy-blunder batman!

To these people, even some of the cretins who have left comments, all publicity is good publicity.

The best thing we can do is not fuel their egos and hope they'll get back in their boxes or crawl back under their stones.

This is obviously two wholly separate issues. He WAS attacked in the street because of legal street shooting. But the other issue that actually got him fired was ranting about it on Twitter. Which, he should know better then to do so. He's not the first to get in trouble over tweets.

I work in radio as well, and it is sometimes frustrating. There are times where I really want to tweet something and think better of it, because it does reflect badly on the company.

This is also where the usual free speech argument falters: you are free to say something, but a company is free to fire you if they don't agree.

I'm a frequent listener of the show and I still support him despite his… lapse of self control on Twitter. We've all been there. Don't take it too serious.

According only to him -- with no corroboration from witnesses, police, hospital report, the other party, etc... We have no idea what actually transpired other than two photos were clearly taken and a bunch of vulgar tweets followed.

True, we kind of have to take his word for it. But perhaps it's because I've been hanging out on photo forums so much that I believe it. After all, we've had many discussions here on the forum with regards to the etiquette of street shooting and the supposed 'rules'.

This always devolves in a debate between the perceived right and expectation of privacy of the person photographed and the legal right of a photographer to take a shot in a public space.

So when I read his take of what happened… I immediately thought back to all the times I've seen similar encounters posted about here. Anthony just posted it straight to Twitter, rather then start a ten page discussion on street shooting etiquette :)

Do we care?

Is 15 minutes got stretched way too far, now I hope, Karma is snapping it back.

IMHO....
way too much great music to listen to,
way too many books on tape to listen to,
way too many day dreams to dream
to listen to bullies-gone-wild-shock-jocks like him.

Launch another Pioneer IV with him on it. Perhaps intelligent life that discovers it will wonder how a race that sent him as their emissary could ever get something into space and come investigate.

I haven't listened to much of his show (I don't live in the US), I know it has a very good reputation for work with comics, both black and white, Patrice O'Neal was a regular before his death, so what he puts across in the tweets comes as a surprise.

No, we don't have corroboration that he was just taking a photo and then things kicked off, however on the surface I don't see any more reason to doubt him than when anyone else has a story about street shots being badly received.

It goes with the territory, did he handle it badly? probably, have we all handled some things badly at times? probably.

The problem is the content of the tweets.
