Stretched Hexar AF

Awesome! Just did a quick Google search, obviously it's hand made by these guys, who also convert Zeiss Ikons and various SLR to stereo cameras. Pretty cool!

Really impressive hardware, but you have to suspect these beasts are rarely if ever used in the wild. Have you ever seen a stereoscopic photo taken on film in the last 20 years? I saw a Jacques Henri Lartigue show at the Hayward Gallery a few years back that was really good fun, but has any serious photographer shot this way since? Digital has made 3D a little more accessible, but with film? Far too much work.
 
Perhaps a better use would be 'Instantaneous Bracketing'. Set the apertures to be one or two stops different, and capture a shot at two different exposures.

If only you could shoot different films in each chamber...you could shout B&W in one, colour in the other, at the same instant.

These guys went out of business in January 2011. They spun off the handmade camera business into a separate company but it is not clear yet how well this will work.

They did try to make some digital cameras too...

...but it's obviously trickier.
 
I have one of these. It is as awesome as you would imagine. The hexar af lenses are sharp and when twinned produce beautiful stereo images on slide film. My current favorite is ektachrome e 100g. Really incredible and my favorite camera

Not too difficult actually. I learned stereo using a stereo realist. I just use an sb28 flash at auto f16 and fire away. The rbt s1 is autofocus and auto exposure just likes hexar af. I just get the film processed do not cut.and cut and mount in frames made by the same company. And view in a handheld backlit viewer. Incredibly realistic images with fine grained slide film
