Strike and riots in Paris with Leica M8

IMHO, I don't think that Jack Johnson, who makes millions with his music, will be bothered about a non-professional French photographer using one of his song for a small slideshow on the internet, especially since the photos are not for commercial use.

It's a slippery slope, meven

and I'm outta here.

Nice work. Good use of the KB effect, and the music was a nice counterpart to the action. I thought some of the motion showing in the shots worked really well. There were a couple in there where it held the image back a little, but great presentation. Btw, maybe it's a translation thing, but the total number of people mentioned early in the blog seems very high.

Thanks for the link.

Just roused my 12 year old son out of bed to watch your slideshow to understand how powerful one person's eye with a camera can tell an important story without saying a word. He was mesmerized. Good work.

Yes, congratulations on some remarkable images. I really felt the tension of that night.

The pen may be mightier than the sword, but the camera is the mightiest of all!

Excellent pictures, as always. But I really think neither the slide show nor the music added to the atmosphere, I like looking at pictures the common way.

Several of the photos really caught my eye. It's a bit hard to say which ones given they are not available individually. Overall, I loved the slideshow.

How did you make it?

excellent images!!!

i wanted to go but, to be honest, was scared to go alone.... next strike, bring me along. i may not have an M8, but i have three fast lenses -- 35/1.4 pre-asph Lux, 50/1.4 pre-asph Lux, and 50/1.5 C-Sonnar. i obviously wouldn't be able to use them all at once ;)

no strikes without french fries

Très bon travail, j'aurais du y aller... (peut-être nous serions nous rencontré?)
It makes me feel good to see quality pictures in the morning about just the day before's events...

The best slideshow I've seen in a while. Great choice of music, slide transition timing, and high-quality documentary images from both sides of the conflict. You had great access.

Seems like you had the ability to zoom into your subject for each slide... I like that also.

Leica M8 or not.... awesome piece of documentary work.

Great looking photos; I have to agree with newsgrunt - just a tad to fast for my taste, your photographs are strong enough to be studied a little longer. I`m really impressed!

I don't think this falls under "fair use" but maybe a lawyer RFF member could comment.

Copyright protection gives the owner of copyright the exclusive right to authorize others to perform the work publicly by means of a digital audio transmission.

Reproducing the music in this context does not constitute fair use. Furthermore, using it without permission is not very wise: it could cost you expensive legal fees and statutory damages of USD $750 to $30,000 as determined by a court. If the copyright owner proves that infringement was willful, a court may award statutory damages of up to $150,000 per violation.
