Stuck adapter

One of my Voigtlander LTM/M adapters is firmly stuck in a Fotasy LM-NEX adapter. Have used this combination before and never a problem. The Leica cap isn't strong enough to get a grip. The combination is currently chilling in the freezer. Obviously don't have the right tool here. Any ideas?

I find a pair of latex gloves or rubber dishwashing gloves will usually do the trick to get a lot more grip on stuck items. You may not be able to grip a small adapter with your hands, but if you can use this latex/rubber glove to grip it (on your hands or not), it may release.

Not completely related, but I used this trick to separate a friend's stuck pool cue that was screwed together way too tightly.

Get a lens spanner. The trick is to apply equal force on opposing sides.

I find that it is not how hard you grab, but where you grab. Try slightly shifting your grip around in different places, this often works for stuck filters.

Also make sure you are depressing the release knob (if it has one) in the correct manner. Some of mine push in to release, some shift sideways, etc., and I always forget which is which. Good luck.

If you have one of these Leica rear lens caps, use the 3 tabs on the back to remove the adapter. I've seen other rear caps that have these tabs, too.

That's pretty brilliant and never knew this trick. I'll have to remember this, though I don't have any LTM adapted lenses and probably only have 1 or 2 of these caps lying around.

I have successfully used just a lens to get a stuck LTM/M adapter to let go. Rotate the lens till it hits the stop where you would normally take the lens out, but instead keep twisting the lens without removing the lens from the adapter. It has worked for me every time, and there has been no damage done to the lens or adapter that I noticed.

You can also press the adapter flat against one of those flat rubber pads many of us have in a kitchen drawer, meant for jar lids. Just press hard and flat and twist. They usually have enough grip to do the job.

You know what's going to happen, don't you? He will just touch it and it will come right off! Kind of like trying to open an olive jar - try real hard and the lid won't budge. Hand it to someone else and it just opens easy as you please.

Probably the vibration from the trip . . . at least he won't charge me.

SUCCESS! Located a piece of wire thin enough and stiff enough to depress the locking pin on the LM-NEX adapter, which had jammed and wasn't responding to the release pin on the side of the adapter. The locking pin engages the Voigtlander LM39/M adapter at the very end of its rotation, not leaving enough travel to wiggle it free.
