I'm having another go at relubing a silver Jupiter 8.

Kim Coxon's instructions are a life saver, but I'm having some issues with the lens mount. I've gotten it removed from the body and I've taken off the aperature ring, but the nameplate ring is stuck fast. I've tried twisting it both ways to remove it, even used on of those rubber jar openers, but it won't budge. Any ideas? Maybe a good soaking in Ronosol or rubbing alcohol?

have you tried leaving it next to the hob/stove or something warm. Maybe your airing cupboard next to a boiler. Maybe the warmth will soften it up

Yea I can't remember where I read it, but something about the lube drying up. Not so hot that you can't touch the thing, but enough that all the oils and stuff loosen up. I think a more consistent warm temperature will be better than a hotter temperature for less time.

Hi,
Not quite sure where you are stuck at. Have you separated the lens section from the focus section? If yes, once you take off the aperture ring, (3 screws and it comes off backwards.) there are 2 screws usually buried in the Yak Spit they call grease. Take these out and then the front ring should come off.

That's where I'm at, but the front ring won't come off. It's stuck tight, even after removing the two screws.

The screws need to come out fully as they are often in a recess but other than that, there should be no reason for it not to come off. They can be very stiff though.
