I just got an R-D1 and it seems that the battery is stuck in the compartment. The battery door opens fine, but the battery only comes out about 1cm. I don't want to pull on it too hard for fear of breaking something. Is there some trick to removing the battery that I'm not aware of?

It turns out that you just have to pull fairly hard. I checked inside and nothing is damaged. I guess it's a good way to avoid having the battery drop to the floor when you open the compartment.

The battery slides right out very easily on my R-D1s. Is yours an original Epson battery, or a 3rd-party replacement?

I have a couple of each, the one that was harder to remove was 3rd party.

We have had this here before. On my RD-1 the battery requires a short tug to remove it.Its supposed to be that way and after a while you wont think of it again until you a read another thread about it.

Same here, the battery just catches a bit at the end. All solved with a quick tug.
