OK guys I illuded yesterday to the kind of detail I am getting under studio conditions with my new Leica M8. Here is a test shot taken at the begining of todays session. You can link to my Flickr account for the full rez image- I'll post one more test shot useing the 50mm Summicron. This shot was taken with my 21mm Zeiss. Care to guess which lens is sharpest?

For my R-D1s? Seriously the range finder is as one should expect, very robust on the Leica- thank goodness.

One more as promised. Perhaps I'll post one or two of the product shots later tonight (though it's a new product roll out for CES and "top secret" until then : )

Why not do a comparison shot with the same lens on the R-D1? Since you have a studio setup there, you should be able to make some pretty direct comparisons.

Not sure on the dust vs. dirt.

As to why I did not do an R-D1s vs. M8 comparison my R-D1s is back with Robert White for exchange as it's VF went out of alignment after only three days ownership and got progressively worse over the next three weeks.

When I get it back I'll do a little test however I’m sure of the outcome- the R-D1 is a little soft however this may not be a bad thing when hand held in low light plus I love the way it paints an image and feels in my hand. These are two very different tools.

These M8 images are sharp no?

Ok here's a sample of one product shot abstractly cropped to protect it's identity for it's CES debut.
