I think the high price nowaday is due to the collectors. When i was in Seoul, i saw few copies of this lens in every camera shop, all are german made. When I asked, they told me this lens is Asian collectors' favorite. I haven't seen that many 35/2 v1 like that before haha

I use mine for BW, I don't think it is very good in colour.

The older lenses do well in color with Fuji Reala. You will get a pastel coloring, which can look awesome.

Yes, I have the 35/50 lens hood for the Cron.
I bought a mint M3 with mint 35/2, 50/2, 90/2 and tons of accessories many years ago locally from an old man who bought the equipment new in germany. Even the M3 receipt is there.

Some of the vintage Leica lenses were made to a quality level that you do not see anymore being done these days. The goggles are attached very well, and there is no moving around for any part of the lens. The carftmanship was superb and is unmatched in most cases.

if you want a lenghty explanation, you can search the forums and find many threads about removing goggles from lenses.
the short answer is if you remove the goggles, the lens will not focus properly. goggled lenses have a different focusing helical than a non goggled one.

However, it's possible to remove the goggles and use the lens on a m4/3 digital, like the Panasonic G-1 or Olympus EP-1, with an adapter. The camera's LCD shows a thru-the-lens image, so it is no problem to focus with a goggle-less lens.
