Just received a used Mamiya 7 from the big auction site and can't get it to power on. Tried two sets of fresh batteries: 4 LR44 replacements and 2 CR1/3N.
It should be as simple as putting the batteries in the correct way and turning the switch on, yes? I would've expected to see the display in the viewfinder as indicated in the manual. It's loaded with film and the lens is attached correctly.
WTF?

Never mind. For once in his life, Ken Rockwell is right about something. The Mamiya 7 manual I was looking at did not mention a PX28 but that's what worked.

The best camera is one that still works!
Ken is always right ... even when he's wrong!
Glad it worked out.
