Stupidity. Stupidity. Stupidity.

I have thought about myself doing this for years. I am not the most ...dammit! I'm hopeless with discipline and doing the right thing (tm). But in 4 years of developing my own negs I have yet to do anything resembling this. Have no idea why.

Every sympathy to you Goody!

You other guys need more focussing (foucsing) fluid. Home-brew is the best, after a couple of something that tastes nice. 2 bottles of home-brew rocks.

I pick up the last tank, carry it over to where the chemistry is sitting waiting. My mind is elsewhere, so instead of pulling off the top, I unscrew it. The whole thing. When I see the reels sitting there looking at me :bang: , I think "Hang on a minute...", slam it shut and let out a stream of invective that would give my mother palpitations.
Mark,

My sympathies. I've done this once and only once. Problem was that once involved all the colour photos I took at the Taj Mahal on my trip to India. I was not pleased!

Funny though how you're never quite as upset with yourself as compared with how upset you would be with a lab if they'd made the same mistake!

Now once I've loaded a tank I tape down the lid until the dev has gone in. That way I'm never wondering whether it's loaded or not and cannot absent-mindedly just pop the lid.

Gene: I never had that happen with Patterson reels, but I'll add it to my list of reasons I stick with stainless steel! Sorry it happened, friend!

I've done other "stupid" things, but I prefer to just say I'm human. "Stupid" is such a harsh term; we need to ge kind and gentle with ourselves. Keeps the heart healthier.

Well I know this is a Darkroom Stupidity Thread, but this will make you feel just a little better.

I'm used to using the shutter speed dial of the Nikon F, SP, and S3 to lay your finger across to gently fire off the shutter release.

You CAN'T DO THAT WITH A NIKON S2!

It screws up the rotating shutter-speed dial.
