I'm picking up my airline tickets this week. So here's my rough timetable. Items in red are fixed.

22nd - Arrive in Melbourne, find guest house, find University and complete the Test matches.
23rd - 1st and 2nd Rounds of the IWF
24th - 3rd and 4th rounds of the IWF
25th - 5th round and Finals of the IWF

26th - RRR, Five days of wargamming will take it's toll on anyone... Little as possible, maybe a wander around the city.
27th to 28th - Travel to St. Kilda, Luna Park, shopping, other touristy things
29th - Museum and art gallery visits. Visit the local camera stores for some looting and pilliage.
30th - This is the day I leave for home, but I'm planning on taking the 9PM flight out. However this could be the day to meet up for a RFF gathering of sorts.

Thoughts and Feedback?

Stu :)

Hmmm, Saturday 30th sounds like it could be possible.
Kris and others in Melbourne, what would be your suggestions for a day of photo taking / gearheading / pubbing?

tim

Wish I could join you. Alas, I am in exile, here in the home of the cheesesteak! Have a blast Stu - something I am sure you will do without too much trouble.

PS: Philly isn't a bad place, but it is still winter here, and Melbourne is my home town. ;)

Righto... Watch out Melbourne here I come. Tickets have been bought and are sitting here bluetac'd to the computer screen.

Stu :)

Hi all

I'd love to meet up with some "non-virtual" RF users in Melbourne just to prove to myself that my growing obsession with RFF and using RF cameras is not just a construct of my imagination!
Let me know if anything is on ...

Another one! You should make yourself known to Kris and Steven.

I'll be organizing a meet up sooner than later.

Stu :)

Well, let's at least try and agree on a day. I'd like to come down but I'll need to try and book a cheap flight, and the earlier I can do that the better. We aiming for Saturday 30th?

Stu, even if some of the others can't make it I'm sure we can find a few things to look at......It's been a few years since I was down in Melbourne but I think I can remember my way around.

I will be available on both Friday 29 and Saturday 30. Looks like we are having Leica fondling day in Melbourne at the end of April.

:D

HI Stu
I reckon the 2 best preowned RF stores in Central Melbourne are Camera Lane (cnr Little Burke and Market Lane -have new Zeiss M glass I know) and Camera Exchange 377 Lonsdale (long term quality store). Then for new RF you've got the big 3 - Michaels on cnr Lonsdale and Elizabeth Sts, Teds on further down Elizabeth and Camera Action (cnr Little Burke and Elizabeth).....

Happy shopping but don't forget ot spend some time taking photos!

Cool I can certianly make the 30th and maybe the 29th..but I can't bring a Leica.. an R3a, L, CV 15, 25, Hexanon 50, Rokkor 90 though. And a swag of 50s to 70s RFs...

OK! we wanna settle on the 30th then?
Stu, where will you be staying?
And Melbournites, want suggest a meeting place?

I plan to take 20+ rolls of unexposed film with me and bring back 20+ rolls of film with latent images on them.

Oh yes, before I forget, is Fuji Neopan Acros in 35mm availible in Melbourne?

The 30th is fine for me.

Tim- From the 26th till the 30th I'm staying at place a called The Nunnery. I'm only there because the name sounds really cool. For first part of the trip I'm stay at the Ibis.

Stu :)

PS. Tim did you get my various slowly caving in PMs about the CV 28mm?

The traditional Melbourne meeting place is "under the clocks, Flinders St Train Station", but it is probably better to meet diagonally opposite this on the steps of the entrance to St Pauls Cathedral.

Time? 9.30am?

Only a suggestion. We could head across to Fed Square (Kris has a nice image in his gallery) or down to Southbank on the river...or take a ferry to Williamstown..

Its not a really common film here I don' think - you might be able to pick it up from the Elizabeth St stores. I'll ring them tomorrow and check for you.

Also I forgot to ask you Tim, are you flying down on the 29th or the 30th?

Well if they do have it, tell the store I'd be at least buying a Pro-pack (10x 35mm rolls) of Fuji Neopan Acros. The gits at Fuji NZ refuse to bring it in and they wonder why SS doesn't sell... hello!?...

Stu :)

Stu, Fuji Acros is available from Vanbar in Carlton. On Saturdays they open only 8:30 - 12:00 though.

Meeting place and time on the stairs in front of St. Paul at 0930 is fine. We can get in there too if you guys wish to; pretty good interiors.

Ferry to Williamstown also sounds nice. Honestly, I've never been there. I'll be just like you guys in Williamstown: a dopey tourist :D

I'm sure you'd be able to get it in Melbourne, but failing that I can get it up here......
