I just placed a bid on a rather large lot of cameras that I'm very excited about. Two of the cameras are coveted ones: An Olympus Pen EE half frame camera and a Canon Demi half frame camera. Also included is a Voigtlander Vito CLR and an Argus C4. Almost all the cameras are in working condition, albeit a bit rough around the edges. Hopefully I'll win.

Anyone else succumbed to GAS lately?

Many of us have been under it's influence for years. I'm waiting for a camera, a lens and a book at the moment. I expect that will change over the next few days and I'll have even more on the way! 😀

Cool, Stephanie. Well, I've been protected by the best antidote against GAS there is: a healthy dose of pennyless enzymes. After getting a Minox 35 GL, a Summar, a Summarit, a 90 Elmarit-R, and a Rolleiflex, my wallet got indigestion. So I've been having some humble pie for a while...

Stephanie, it looks as though you're starting out like most of us did, buying several cheaper cameras one after the other (okay, you're buying them all at once.) What I came to realize a while ago is that if I had saved the money from all those cheap cameras, I would have been able to afford a camera I had thought was out of my league. I don't want to rain on your parade, but for your sake, you should think about the situation.

Yeah, I know.

The Leica IIIc would be a perfect camera for me right now, but with a few problems that I've been having lately, health and otherwise, it's going to be a long time before I can afford to go with something that expensive. This is a way to get myself a few of the really nice cameras that I had been wanting at really low prices. I don't know if I'll actually get it yet either.

If it fails, I may go ahead and save for the Leica after all.

Well, Stephanie... nobody gave me any advice and I came to accumulate a small army of cameras, which I later sold at a relative loss. In your case, should you acquire your army in one single stroke, just think that later you'll be able to say goodbye to each and all of them the same way we've done.

Just enjoy using them!

I'm not plugging a specific camera (I think the Leica IIIc is sold anyway) just the general idea. (I'm really sorry to be sounding like a nagging father or something! Oh my gosh, I am turning into my father!)

There are other IIIc's, Frank, and they are beckoning...beckoning, I tell you.

In all honesty, this was one of those "Holy classic cameras, Batman!" moments. I put a 40 dollar max bid on the whole set and if I don't win I'm not going to be broken up about it. If I do win, however, I have a nice set of cameras to play with for a while. That said, the bidding is only up to 5.50 now. 😀

Oooo... Stephanie... I guess your secret is safe with the forum members. But what about others looking at this thread?

Good luck with your bidding!

One last question: didn't you have a Canonet already? I do remember you shoot Nikon SLRs sometimes, right?

Again... good luck! 🙂

Eleven in a single shot, maybe for less than $40.....that´s a real damn good deal ma´am!!!!!
Maximum I´ve got one shot was three...just for parts...and it was form $5
But OK, I think that my next should be the Bessa R3a so I acquired some thinwallet enzymes, a few drops in a glass of water....and bingo!! Two months with this medication will do the trick, I hope....meanwhile I´m thinking of a Contax II and perhaps...
OK, now I have to repair and restore my newest baby, a Yashica Mimy half frame, that stepped in last saturday night.
This way I´ve got nine "new" cameras in two months. Is that a serious attack of GAS?
I know It really doesn´t matter anyway.
Now, Stephanie be happy!!! Enjoy them!
Godd luck at the auction!

About a year and half ago I purchased 12 cameras in a single lot from an 84 year old gentlemen that wanted to see them go to a good home. They included Contax IIIA, Topcon Super D, Rollieflex, Graphic View 4x5, Canon A-1's, Olympus Pen FT, Fujica Half 1/2 frame, several large format lenses, Zeiss lenses, a ton of old photo books and technical mauals, flashes, Misc.

But I had to pay considerably more then $40 for them 😡

Still it was a good deal in my opinion.

If I want it there is a good chance that I will have to shell out more than 40 bucks for it...but whether I want it that badly or not remains to be seen. We'll see. I want to do more with my Canonet, really, before I get started working with (and repairing) other cameras.
