Had the same problem and remembered that you need to run the battery down completely overnight and then recharge it. I spoke to Leice tech support and they confirmed that this is what to do- sometimes 2x for each battery. So am going to try it now and hope it works. Yesterday, with what I believed was a fully charged battery, I went out to take some photos with my M8. After approximately five shots, it suddenly went dead. I had to take it home and recharge the battery. Did not have problems subsequently. But still...
Anyone have the same issue? Is it likely that this relates to the fact that it was the battery's first charge, or potentially something more nefarious?

I hate to say it but a fully charged battery that goes dead after 5 shots has got a problem. I can not believe that Leica tech support thinks that a full discharge/recharge will fix this.

I have two batteries for my M8 that I got the end of June. I have battery failure constantly even though they are fully charged. Tried to let them run down prior to recharging and no luck. Soooo
I haver a call in to Leica and hope they can help.. I do not think that two batteries having the problem means the batteries are bad! Hope it is not the camera-I love it!!!!

I have had the same problem so claled Leice, they toldme to try discharging the batteries- I did (both of them) but pretty much had the same problem again and again-Sooo they advised sending the M8 back to them- they had it for 6 weeks(ugh) and when I got it back with a new battery charger it worked fine for one week then the same problem. When I called this week they decided they are sending me a new battery- if that does not work they want to see the camera again.
Frankly, this is a pain- I love the camera- but my R-D1 is great too and more reliable- they should try to figure out what this problem is- too many people are having it- for $5000. plus you should at least have a rfeliable camera!
