Suddenly banned!

I was checking an ad in the classifieds this morning, and wanted to send
a pm to the seller and bam! it says i am banned, no reason and for ever!

I cannot pm anyone. I am sure it is a mistake but could I please know what happened?

Appreciate your help.

I think it's a bug or a changed setting on the site itself - I get what I assume is the same vbulletin message if I click on "reply" without logging in.

No reason was specified.

Date the ban will be lifted: Never

It's a bit unfriendly, but I don't think it's anything personal. Perhaps the boss didn't know? I guess he does know!

I've seen the same thing clicking on a link to an image when I haven't logged in.

Also, sometimes the "Save" button when I'm editing a comment says something other than "Save". I've seen that on other sites using the same software.

Joe, if I haven't clicked 'remember me' and I move into the classifieds, I get logged out. When I posted a reply in my sale, I got a banned message or a you don't have permission to post or modify ad. This was in my own ad. I also got an invalid script once. Something is buggy.

That's different. The "Vote Now" bug is a known VBulletin bug.

Getting the "You are banned" message could be as simple as the wrong message being applied to a "no permission" condition, or it could be a cookie problem. The fact that clicking "remember me" (which creates and allows cookies to be stored on your computer) suggests that this is a possibility.

I would suggest that anyone experienceing this do the following:

Log out of RFF.
Clear your browser cache, and quit your browser.
Restart your browser, and log in to RFF
Be sure to click "remember me" when you log in!

At another vB board that I administer, this works for 95% of similar irregularities.
