I was wondering if anyone knew of a rugged finish to use on a camera body besides powder coating. Powdercoating is great, but i really don't want to rip appart any of my cameras to prep them for powdercoating. Any suggestions? Anyone know how anodized aluminum proccess works?

Depending on the finish of the camera you will even have to take them apart to do a mere paint job. It's in the coating already present. If that's chrome over brass or zinc, then an electrolytic process is required to get rid of the chrome first.

By the way, anodizing is also an electrolytic process. I.e. dip and dunk in a bath..

I think you'll have to rip apart your cameras for anodizing as well. Not all alloys can be anodized, too.

I don't know if it is available in the US but in the UK you can buy cans of a black rubberized paint called stonechip which is desiggned for cars to prevent the small chips you get on the lower parts.
