Suggestion: Anti-GAS forum

Just two three days back in the forum, after several months absent, and I find myself eagerly reading threads and posts, and crazily jumping again between eBay and Keh (and Cameraquest of course!), as if a 50th camera is what may save my soul.:bang:

Perhaps in order "to keep the balance of things", i.e. stopping spending small bucks per month in order to spend big money at slower pace (sponsor bussiness don't worry: you may earn even more as we are dealing with a fatal desease), what we need is an anti-gas forum here.

A kind of therapeutic corner, perhaps moderated by a volunteer psychiatrist, where to pour any argument available. For example, what do you do regarding the R3M after you have bought an R3A?: well, concentrate on what Kobayashi may sweep next year and do the same by 2009...

I don't know, but RFF is very expensive.:bang:

Cheers,
Ruben

Hi Ruben. Where've you been?

I'm pretty much finished with the gear acquisition syndrome.

How dare you???? we're here to fight gas together not to fuel it. Some folks here need serious and complex treatment, you're not helping them to recover with ....
Anyone interested in a Contax IIa BD refurbished by HS for $500? (have 2, keeping 1, looking for a Contax T)

Hi Frank ! Nice to chat with you again.
I start to think I have been saving money...

Considering I am interviewing for an internship position in my new field, I will be taking a vow of poverty for a few months. GAS will have to be kept in check, even for FSU gear, until the permanent job offer comes through.

So you either remain at internship status and save GAS expenses, or become permanent and pay with the surplus of the new status to the GAS tax. Not easy choice.

Wasn't there a moovie repeating something like "My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die !" ?

YES THAT EXACTLY IS THE DANGER ! :bang:

AG aka Anonimous Gearheads: my name is Igor and I am GAS-addicted.
No way. I don't want to get better. I refuse to accept it. I am in desperate need of that OM 28mm f2.8 and 35SP I will own very soon. And don't call it addiction :>

I'm in a similar situation. I've got the job, I just have to finish the PhD before I can start (some time this summer, I promise). I'm looking forward to finally being able to afford an M3 with nice, clean Leica glass, not too mention normal workdays and weekends off. And health insurance...that would be nice.

Being cooped up inside, though, I haven't been able to burn much film. I end up at KEH or B&H in my free time, and I have a new lens or something before it's all over. I'm going to end up in serious debt before I finish. I blame the Camera & Coffee thread and Flickr group.

So, yes, an anti-GAS thread would be fantastic for me. But I think finally getting finished my degree may be the best antidote for me :)
