I've just bought a Summar collapsible lens which I'm going to use on my Leica 111g.

Has anyone used the 'correct' SOOMP hood with this camera and lens? I'm worried there might be problems because the 111g viewfinder is bigger /higher/different than the other Barnack 111s and 11s. Will an expensive SOOMP hood obscure the viewfinder/rangefinder? In other words will the cut outs in the hood be in the correct place for use with the 111g?

I don't intend to buy a SOOMP, just to find out! Any help appreciated.

the IIIg actually makes using larger lens hoods easier, with less blocking and less problems than previous Barnack Leicas.
I use a Canon 50/1.9 rect. hood with the 34mm series VI adapter with my Summar lens on my Leica III with good results.

You will probably be a little off-angle peeping through the hole, so the line of the top of the hood will have more "thickness". But it shouldn't be severe.

I have used a SOOMP incorrectly on my IIIg. It actually works great for my Canon 35/2.8. I was given the SOOMP by a friend. Someday maybe I need to get the correct Summar lens...:D

I did (on IIIf and on M8). This hood, originally made for the Summar is quite bulky and, actually, not very pretty in design nor pratical.
Now i use a FOOKH/12505 intended to Summaron - Elmar 3.5cm on it.

It looks like that:

Many thanks for your suggestions everyone. I've purchased a period Photax reversible hood designed for the Summar. However it's circular. I'll see how I get on with that.
