So, now had a beautiful overhauled M3 for three days!
It came with Summarit. Any thoughts on the lens?? Else, that it's damn heavy.
Should I keep it or get another one?

Can't wait the results..!

In 1985 I bought an M3 DS and several lenses, of which one was a Summarit. It gave so much flare that I never used it in the 17 years for which I had it. But if you have a clean example and a suitable hood, it is a good lens.

It depends on what you want from your images.

I just purchased one to go with my new M3....and it is PERFECT for what I want to do!!! In fact, I am on a hunt for as many of these as possible.

There are a number of threads here on that lens and Flickr has a lot of images you can review. Only you can decide it if is the lens you want.

My two favorite 50 lenses are the New 50 1.4 Summilux and my 50 1.5 Summarit. A close third is the 1959/1961 first version `Lux. It is much like the Summarit.

I never found a 1962/2002 `Lux that I liked at all.

omg, that lens rules!! shoot someone with their hair blowing in the wind and you'll be amazed at how fine that lens draws hair. Its a stellar lens. It definitely has the 60's look, but it is a sharp and fabulous lens. Anticipate a little focus shift at 1.5, but its game on at 2 and down.

I had an M3 with a Summarit years ago (had the kit stolen in the UK-if only I had the images on the film which went as well) and I thought it produced great negatives. It was heavy but what a load to carry! Loved it.
