Hi Everyone,
So I have this 50mm f/1.5 Summarit here and it can flare as we all know. So do I NEED the fancy $150 hood to maximize the flair reduction or will a HEAVYSTAR or B&W hood do the trick? (which I have already)

Any Summarit users please let me know your experiences for $150 will buy 300' of TriX and I could like film if all is the same.

Also I have a set of Heilopan & B&W 40.5mm filters now and it seems like a little spot of locktite makes them fit just perfect.

I did see the Leica hood today at a shop here in town, it sure is nice, but I'm poor.

Any vinyetting or other issues to think of?
Thanks~
Steve

Also, I have a DR & a Canon f/1.2 now and wanted a more romantic lens for people. Am I just duplicating focal lengths here with the Summarit?

That hood will do for sure. I use the same one from heavystar on a few different lenses. CV also has a hood with cap that works well for the Summarit.

The look will be much different from the DR but have some similarities with the Canon 1.2 in the OOF areas in my experience. The Summarit is king at not blowing details in bright objects.

If memory serves, the Summarit has a 41mm filter thread. There should be no vignetting with a hood made for a 50mm lens. As for your other questions, only you can answer them after you have played with the lens.
