f2.8 and 1/1000 sec, closest focus distance, on an M6
Very difficult/contrasty lighting conditions. Dappled sunlight, while pleasing to the eye, exceeds film's recording abilty and rarely makes a successful print, that I am capable of making, anyway.
I post it because I'm very happy with the focus and sharpness of the result.

Frank: This is a beautiful photo of your Dad. The Summarit is great for such photos since it has a pleasing signature in certain situations, in my opinion. Which film did you use here?

Thank you! I should have posted this in Memphis' "father" thread. Someone suggested that my dad must be very cooperative to sit for all these portraits, but that isn't true. I have to be very quick so as not to tax his patience, and persitent to overcome his reluctance.

I tried some digital photo manipulation to tame the contrast but this is the best I can do. If anyone wants to play with this image and repost it, I'd appreciate it.

This photo was taken a few weeks ago during my last visit "home" and my dad was sitting on the same steps that he was sitting on for my avatar photo, 1 1/2 years ago.

Frank: I applied an S curve to the image to improve contrast, then I removed the colors, and then added back some Sepia effect. I hope that the effect is good on the screens. I hope that I have not degraded the image! Let me know if it is OK or not.

I like the sepia effect Raid. What I was thinking was to darken the sweater so that his face would be the lightest tone in the image. On my cheap Acer laptop LCD screen, the contrast seems high, but that could just be my viewing screen. Thank you for your effort!

Pete: Your image also looks very nice. Now Frank has images to choose from and to learn from for his own techniques at home.
