Summarit versus Summicron 50mm on M8

Some further advice needed for a M8 newbie

I am looking at buying a 50mm lens to add to my 28mm Zeiss - I would like to buy a Leica lens and start along that path

It will be good to have a 50mm on the M8 for closer shots

I am not too worried about f2 versus f2.5

What do you guy think generally, is the Cron so much better than the Summarit - if I buy the Summarit I will save about Euro 300 for a mint condition lens.

Is the Summarit slightly easier to focus wide open?

I'd differ. I would definitely get the Cron. It's an all-time classic with great build, rendering, and resale value. Personally, I would take that approach versus buying a Summarit (despite some good reviews of the this new 50).

Indeed, enjoy it. It's beneficial to get lots of input on RFF. But then you need to make the purchase and enjoy.

If you have a ZM 28, the 50 planar makes far more sense than anything else. same 1/3 stops, handling, image character/contrast/look and a darned lot cheaper than Leica.
