I went to the Hunts photo show in Melrose (Boston) and at the Leica stand there were 4 lenses in total. All 4 were Summarits. I got to look at all of them but the bloke would not let me take photographs with them as they are preproduction copies. I brought my Zeiss Ikon along and mounted them on. My impression is that they are "true" Leica lenses in the sense that they are built like the other Leica lenses. The Leica representative said that Leica hired 50 new people to make these lenses and they are made to compete with the Zeiss ZM lenses. He also said that Leica has the larges back order for the other lenses in the last 20 years and they could afford to hire all these new people to make the all new line of lenses which is made entirely in Germany. Even though I prefer Zeiss lenses, the 75mm one looked very, very attractive to me.

Anyway, I though some RFF users might have interest in these lenses so I posted the information I heard today. The lenses should be available in the beginning of December.
