Summaron 35mm f/2.8 fix

A friend asked me if I could fix a slightly loose and wobbling aperture ring of his 35/2.8
I'd need a starting point before I go and bring my tools close to this lens. How does the lens and focus module separate? I guess a retaining ring from the rear? My cron 35 v4 just screws apart but I guess with this old design the engineers of leica actually went further than that.
 
Hi Kay, I've never worked on a Summaron 35mm F2.8, but if its anything like most other lenses of that vintage the retaining ring on the rear side (on the inside edge of the focus cam) holds the optical cell (with aperture mechanism) in position. Loosen and remove the retaining ring from the rear and remove the optical cell from the front and you should be able to access the aperture ring mechanism from the back. Watch out for shims when you remove the optical cell. There's probably one or two in there to ensure the correct spacing from the film plane. The last photo in this auction shows the retaining ring very clearly.

thanks for the confirmation .. I was suspecting this (the 40mm cron has a similar retaining ring)
