My apologies if this is a redundant post but I searched the forum and found no answer to what I'm looking for.
That said, has anyone found an appropriate 6 bit code for the 35mm f/3.5 Summaron? The big list of lens codes doesn't even have a f/2.8 but as these are both great performers, surely digital M users haven't hung up the lenses.
I just ordered an M8 (migrating from R-D1) and I want to continue to use the Summaron 3.5 which is one of my favorites. It's the late model screwmount with the infinity stop several mm away from the lens flange so a cutout LTM-M adapter is not needed as with the earlier Summaron and the Elmars.
I'm also using a Canon 50mm f/1.4 which I'm questioning if it even needs to be coded due to its length.
All the other lenses and coding questions about them have been answered through a bit of research.
Any advice is appreciated!
Happy shooting.

I see no-one has replied.

I was going to use my Perar 35/3.5 and compare it to my Summaron 2.8, and wanted to see what codes to use on my M9

In my M9 I see the Tri-Elmar 28/35/50 setting at 35mm, and it comes up as 35/4.

So, maybe the best code to use is the one for 35/4.

I'll see

I think you might have to just do some trial and error experimental shots to find the best built in profile to use. I did this with my M9p and Zeiss Biogon 21mm/2.8 and 25mm/2.8 ZM lenses. I set up the camera on a tripod and shot a very large multi-pane window at work, wide open, f/5.6 and f/11, using a couple different profiles for each lens. I then looked at the files at 100% res on the computer and evaluated the center edges and corners of the pictures for chromatic aberration, vignetting and color. (The M9 cameras tend to have magenta on the left in profiles that don’t work well with the lens in use). Hopefully one of the 35mm profiles will stand out as better for your Summaron than the others. You could also try marking it with the 6bit code for the 35mm/2.5 Summarit to try that profile. See http://bophoto.typepad.com/bophoto/2009/01/m8-coder-simple-manual-handcoding-of-m-lenses.html and http://whimster-photography.com/leica_m_lens_codes/index.html for manual coding help.
