Summaron and Summicron hoods

Hi there guys.

I will be traveling for 5-6 months around South Asia crossing six countries and I've decided to carry my IIIG with the Summaron and Summicron.

I need filters on them, do You know which ones are the right ones, cheaper alternatives and where?

Summicron 50 collap.
Summaron 35 3.5 E39.

Looks a lot like the Leica 12549 for the 50/2.8 Elmar-M, for 1/5 the price. 🙂

I think, however, if you put that on top of a filter on the Summaron, you might get vignetting.

If you're planning to use filters, why not get a Leitz IROOA, which is an a42 clip-on hood, that will give good coverage for both those lenses?

Or a 12585 hood (also a42, so it slips over your e39 filters).

Oh -- your original post said you need to put filters on them -- you must have meant hoods...

Yes, that's an a42 clip on hood as well. Both the 12585 and the IROOA clip onto the groove that runs around the outside rim of your lens, leaving the inside screw threads for a filter. Both my IROOA and 12585H hoods include engraving listing 35/3.5 as a compatible lens.

Just check to make sure that your Summaron has that groove around the outer rim, like your Summicron has.

Also, FYI -- The a42 hoods might fit pretty close to the aperture ring on your Summaron -- some find that annoying, YMMV.

Can be the FIKUS for the 35mm. Or the smaller, marked Summaron-Elmar, if you are using the A36 model.

For the Summicron I like the old SOOFM.
