Summaron infinity lock

Just received a nice Summaron 2,8/35 in the mail, which I won on the auction site. It makes a nice combo with my M2.
Trying it out, I discovered the infinity lock. Probably a stupid question, but what is the practical usefulness of this feature?

As far as I'm concerned, there isn't. It probably was inherited from the LTM lenses where the infinity lock helped in unscrewing the lens from the body. OTOH, it doesn't really bother me either. You get used to it.
