I have just completed a project that I worked on over the summer, and finalized the book using the Blurb publishing service. The eBook version is free if you have an iPad (I don't think it works on Android tablets, however), and there is a printed version as well:

It's now on my iPad where I have given it a quick once over. I like the images, but curious about the mix of B&W and color? Having spent five years in the Navy on an aircraft carrier, I did get a "military feeling" as I leafed through the ebook, especially from the image of the person sitting, on the ground with back against a building and the ever-present cigarette.

Thanks...I'm glad you got the feeling, and I hope from more than just that single image. Ultimately, your experience is probably different than my own, as you were on an aircraft carrier; also, the difference between active duty and the reserves/national guard is pretty stark. That is one thing I tried to address in my statement at the start of the book.

In terms of mixing black and white and color, it was a kind of experiment. I shot both throughout the summer. Usually I stick with one type for a project for the sake of consistency, but the contrasts that I observed (and again, addressed in my statement in the book) lent itself to having color and monochrome together, providing that visual sense of contrast.
