Summicron 35 M versions + equivalent Lux

I was also checking prices same way as OP did. For price V4 seems to be on pair with ASPH.

never saw a ASPH for 1000€ or below, while the V4 often floats around for that. You can't use &bay fixed price items as a reference, those are loony prices.

I would need to see more colour photos taken with ASPH to be persuaded...please feel free to point me towards some...

Thanks for your comments

I've had a v4 and the pre-asph Lux for some years now. The Lux for some reason holds details much better than the v4 -- even out to the edges. The v4 turns to mushier on the edges which was surprising to me. This seems to be the case even with field curvature taken into consideration when I look at relative detail-ness in 3D subjects. This edge effect is made worse as I often focus in the centre and then twist the camera to recompose which changes the distance to subject and makes it even mushier.
It's to the point where the v4 might be the first Leica lens I'll selling in some time.
The Lux is a keeper for sure. The big drawback to the Lux is that it only focuses down to roughly 0.9m. The flare is less of an issue as you catch it on the screen preview after the shot and can usually re-compose and shoot again avoiding the flare. The lack of 6-bit coding is annoying as I always forget to switch back to auto lens recognition when I take it off.

Thank You...any votes for the Summicron 35 V2 from the early 70's?
as good as V3?

Yep, even better for me since it is the only one with a tab for the f-stops - which is very practical when a sunshade is attached.

Btw I had and used them all.....i.e. the summicrons because I had some of the same questions as you have
therefore best to try them all by yourself...
