Summicron 50mm f2.0: old vs new.

I agree with you, Raid. However, scanning the negatives with an Epson V600 scanner WITHOUT sharpening them digitally make them look less sharp than they really are. The Summicron rigid 50mm is a class of its own.

It just so happens that a few minutes ago I placed the rigid Summicon on the Hexar RF in preparation of a family outing in a hour or so. It is one of my alltime favorite 50mm RF lenses (and I have several 50mm lenses to choose from).

A rigid Cron is on my M6 and with me now.

I have an early collapsible Summicron LTM that I used with an M adapter and a rubber lens shade. Shot with it Sunday, indoors B&W, and found the resolution at the closest focus range to be just fine. It does tend to be less contrasty than the later ones, but I haven't tried the most recent model. The nice thing about the collapsible is the size of the camera in the bag or pocket. I was lucky with this lens and bought it quite some years ago. It has no cleaning marks, oil, or fungus. A wonderful lens that doesn't get used enough.
