Yep, the 50mm rigid Summicron is superb for M8 and M9 shooters, and the DR is outstanding for all the rest of the M bodies.

This fact killed any interest I had to buy a DR. I am staying with my Rigid Cron on the M8, while I use a wide angle lens on the M9.

Nearly everything I have shot in the last 3 years is with the DR Summicron, and I absolutely love it.

It is so dense, precise, and I love its qualities both in B&W and color. You can see most of my work with it here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/28732091@N06/

Here is what you can expect, I think it was wide open

P.S. My lens has haze in it as well. No bother.

In that last one - I don't think I've ever seen a photo in which snow looked so like snow! Great exposure. And thought provoking composition ...

When the V3 arrived in 1969, many pro traded in the old old. When they went back to rebuy their old lens they were disappointed to find it sold.

That was the very first lens I put on my new M9P chrome. Handsome pair.

What you can expect is a fairly small circle of max sharpness at F2, around 12 mm. With each new redesign the contrast increases and circle increases in size. Good colors from wide open.

The first 50 2.8 elmar gives similar pictures.

Suck it up and get it cleaned. Do not try it yourself. The interior coatings are warm butter soft.

The outside requires extreme care not to scratch. Look up how to clean a lens.
