I bought a 50mm summicron (5cm) and I can't get to focus with it. At f2m in the finder it looks focused (coupled) but the image is out of focus when i check it...so I am not sure if I am using it properly or not.

Is this lens not to be used on m8? also, if i collapse it, will it harm the camera on the M8?

Use is simple: pull on the front and turn it clockwise as far as it will go. It may be safe to collapse the lens when mounted: but it will be a damn sight safer to not collapse it.

The only course I can suggest is trying out the lens on another M mount body.

The two collapsible crons I have had would collapse on the M8 with no problem (same with a newer Elmar 50). I measured with a micrometer prior to trying it and ther was plenty of room. Just check it first to make sure.

And Payasam is right - make sure you extend the lens all the way to shoot.
