What exactly is the issue with a DR Summicron and a Bessa R3a? It doesn't mount at all or it just doesn't work in close focusing range?

I have a Summicron DR 50/2 and a Bessa R3A. The lens mounts fine. The eyes will not align, so focusing below approx. 1 meter is out. More significantly, perhaps, the lens does not focus to infinity (the focusing ring simply stops at a certain point due to the flange coming into contact with part of the camera body). Hyperfocal focusing starting at about f5.6 is possible. Other than that, the lens works perfectly on the Bessa. Don't worry, you won't hurt either the camera or the lens by using them together. The Summicron DR is a truly wonderful lens, and I've gotten great results on the Bessa. However, I have recently acquired a Leica M6, so the Bessa's days are numbered.

Be careful, rdeleskie, the DR RF cam can hit the light meter on some M6 bodies too.

Chris, better to trade the DR against a rigid - same optics.

Ah, thanks for the explanation. it was obvious the eye wouldn't mount, but I couldn't figure out what the issue with the lens in normal focusing range was.

Cameraquest's description indicates complete incompatiblitiy, but I was sitting looking at both of them and it seemed that it would mount okay.
