Anyone use this lens? Very soon I will FINALLY be able to purchase another lens for my M6, which currently has a 50mm Summilux.

I actually debated getting a Tri-Elmar (the old 28-35-50mm one). The new 16-18-21 sounds great also, but I feel like it was aimed at M8 users, and since I have a .72 body, I'd pretty much have to attach an external viewfinder.

What would be your second lens, after my 'Lux 50?

I did shoot a couple of frames with it at Photokina, Not enough to firm an opinion - but from those couple of negs, it looks pretty amazing, as it should at that price! The step from a 50 to a 21 is quite steep, I would be tempted to add a 28 in between (can still be used with the 0,72 finder without aux. finder on top).

Well originally my second lens after 50 was 35. Now its 28. Actually, my third lens was a 28, but its now become my primary lens, and I'll probably sell the 35. If that makes any sense 😀

I ordered one when I got back from Photokina. None in the pipeline yet, according to anyone I can get hold of. My dealer got the UV/IR filter in, so I'm hoping the lens will follow shortly.

I've been waiting for a fast 21 for quite a while.

...and people wonder why we have so few women posting here? Comments like that are the reason.

How is that any different than me saying "I want one. I will probably buy one if my wife let's me." ??? I am confused how her comment was somehow worthy of a (seemingly) sexist response? 🙁

Or did I misunderstand what you were saying Al?

Al was making reference to an inappropriate comment by another poster which has since been removed.

Thank you for clearing that up Paul. Al, please accept my apologies if I seemed accusing, I was taking what you were saying out of context.

Best,

Makes a lot of sense to me - I've had the legendary Summicron 35 v4 for a couple of years now but the 35mm lens doesn't quite work for me though there are many, many fans of the combination of M + 35. I tried a 25mm Zeiss Biogon aswell, thinking that would fit better with the 35mm but have just taken up the current discount offer and finally bought a 28 elmarit. It already feels right - after all for years I shot mainly with a Nikon FE with 50mm and 28mm lenses and it feels like coming home.

I have both the 35mm Summicron and VC Skopar so will probably keep the latter. At least the sale of the 35 and 25 should help pay for the 28!

There we go... it was just a matter of time to have the first wall shots with these lenses. Isn't it amazing that even Leica doesn't have more "real" pictures that show the capabilities of these $$$$$ marvels than that cheese maker who's up on their website since photokina? No doubt these lenses are cutting edge and everyone and his grandmother who is using a 21 on a daily basis for his job - or won the MegaMillions will order one. ...need to buy new lottery tickets 😉.
