This is an interesting effect, you are discussing. I will have my eye open for it, when using my lens (which so far, I am shooting mostly @ ƒ2, ƒ2.8 and wide open, to get to know it.

Snorting silver salts
try using it as a snapshot lens. Just set it to 10 feet and f5.6 or f8.0 to see how it captures when you snap off, barely framing
I love doing that with my 35s and wider.
Post some shots, happy shooting!

Gabor, when I shot my first shots with a pre ASPH Lux some time ago, I was irritated by it's crazy flare behavior, but the more, I use these lenses, the more, I like that occasional effect ;-)
Here are a few of the first night shots with my new infinity lock version II:
"light bulb"
"still wanted"
"about the money"
"scooter and BMW"
"sweeper"
"late night street food"

Thanks Erik ;-) I really love the little pre ASPH.Great pictures, Dirk! Seems your lens is exactly calibrated and it shows good contrast too!
Erik.
The infinity lock sample, I bought was the only lens, I didn't really investigate before buying. So it came as a little surprise, that it is such an early sample, made exactly 10 years before my other 35 Lux pre ASPH.
I really love those lenses:
- first signs of spring in Shanghai (finally the freezing is over) - a drive by shot with the 1967 infinity lock lens:

- a crop of the same shot - do you see me, shooting out of the bypassing red taxi?

Yes, they probably will never get him …Interesting! This suspect of murder is still not arrested.

(This is not police, mind you, but guards on duty of a small living compound next to a bar).
Also shot with 1967 infinity lock 35 Summilux v2.

I really don't get it, why Leitz made the later versions to focus only to 1m :bang:
Here is less than 1m with the infinity lock v2:

"still wanted"
Dirk,
Nice shots from your '67 Summilux. I particularly like the selection shot at night. That wanted sign shows off the unique qualities of the pre asph very well!
Keep them coming!

Simon

Leica CS at Solms modified my pre asph Lux, so now I'm ready to shoot with this tiny beauty on the M9.

What kind of modification did they make? This photo looks a lot different from a typical 35 pre asph shot.

They just adjusted the infinity focus, because my lens was not able to focus towards infinity on the M9.
What do you mean by "different" from other shots?
Here some other pictures with the same lens, after the service.
