Giulio,
How many 35mm lens do you have?
I've seen your posts in at least 3 threads: 35 f/1.4 f/2 and f/2.8

Hey Trung! 3
Summaron 35 2.8 (my first and beloved M-Mount lens I'm using since 2010)
Summicron 35 f2 asph that came in 2013 as I wanted a modern design lens to pair with the summaron.
I thought I could live with the 2 35 above and 2 M2 bodies but...
a summilux 35 v2 infinity lock came in 2014 from Maitani and this is my special rendering 35.
I choose which one to use depending on mood, light etc.
A summilux 50 v2 and a nikkor 5cm 1.4 s complete the kit but I am thinking of getting an elmar-m 50 again (fantastic lens if not for being collapsibile).

I highly recommend the Elmar-M 50/2.8 Giulio. Mine's a 1997 model. Compact and capable.

John,
I had one and I loved the rendering of that lens but I wasn't too happy with the collapsible mechanics but indeed I am on the market for another copy

Leica M2, Summilux 35mm f/1.4 v1 & v2, 400-2TMY, Perceptol.
Both pictures with the same histogram.

Been lurking on this thread for a while. The graphics on the cup look sharper to me in the 2nd (version 2) photo.

Since there seems to be a great deal of interest in this lens, whose performance varies so markedly at different apertures, I think it would help those trying to decide if they want one if everyone who posts an image would state the aperture at which their picture was taken.

Furthermore, I am really curious what people think a proper price for this lens is right now. Based off of what I have seen on ebay, there is not a lot of good used selection.
Assuming I am not obsessed with having a pristine like new lens, what would you look to pay in USD for these?

This is very difficult to say, because there are so many variations. You first heve to decide wich type you want and then follow e-bay for a while on the subject.
Maybe a arrangement of types should be made first: Steel rim type 1 chrome, steel rim type 1 black, steel rim type 1 goggles, steel rim type 1 goggles black, etc.
Erik.
Whoops my bad. Forgot to specify. This would be on an M4, so I do not need googles.
I am leaning towards the black type 2 summilux. I am fine with some signs of wear on it, just not completely beat to hell
Open to input though if people here think the type 1 has any type of significant advantage over the type 2.

Personally I think that type 1 (steel rim) is a much better lens, above all the lenses starting with serial numbers "206XXXXX". However, I do not know the later lenses "Made in Germany", but I've heard a lot of good about them.
I have a Type 2 Summilux, starting with serial number "222XXXX" but these are to be avoided IMO.
Erik.
Assuming I did want a canadian summilux, what price would you consider a good deal? All the posts I've found on good prices for this lens are from the early 00's

Summilux 35mm pre-asphs sales have been less common on Ebay the last year or so. It seems like the majority of offers come from the same few sellers. They sit there at higher prices and don't sell.
The average sales price for a decent lens seems to hover around $1,800. Ones with issues (separation, significant scratches, major dust, etc) seem to be $300-400 less.
Those prices are for 'common' versions of the lens however.

I wasn't sure where to put this and didn't want to open up a seperate thread for this nonesense...
I hope it's okay here.
Today I bought my first Summilux-M 35 Pre-ASPH in a Leica store which got CLAed recently. Furthermore I received my first Jupiter-12 (very clean copy) via post when I got home. Of course I shot a test roll and did a simple and shootout on four frames, just for fun. What do you think: Which one is the Summilux?
