Summilux 50/1.4 type 1 - opinions

Ha! So does mine! 🙂

I've actually thought of making a small, threaded hole in the hood,
so I could lock it in place with a small brass post.

But a GG-2 hood from the Contax G series also does the trick.
I cut a vent in one and it works like a charm. Also put one of these
on my 1.4/35 Lux ASPH.

Harry thanks for the tip. I'm going to look into it. Altho the rubber band somehow shows appropriate (dis)regard for the design of the hood in the first place 😉

I really hate that collapsible hood. 🙂
Same for the one on the current 2/50 Summicron.
There must have been an extra schnapps ration the evening they put that design together.
🙄

Anyhoo, here are some pics of the Contax GG-2 hood on my 1.4/50 Lux.

Also on a 1.4/35 Lux ASPH (next post). The square hood that came with the 35 obscured a large amount of the viewfinder and drove me nuts.

I cut a vent into the GG-2 hood and finder blockage is very minimal.

I would keep a close eye on the KEH website. I happend to look in there one day last week and found a 50 lux V2 in bargain condition for $650. I ordered the thing. Sure it has been well used, But as is often the case with KEH's bargain lenses, the glass was in excellent condition.
