I've just bought one (thx Nigel) and need to find 2 things. Firstly the correct lens cap with the cutouts for the reversed hood and secondly a plastic lens cap that fits over the lens, without the hood fitted. I'm not looking for the internal pinch type. I'm guessing that the internal dia of such a cap would be 44-45mm. Does anyone have any good ideas?

Just in case--The Leica part number is 12586--you can find them occasionally on ebay. I bought one from Igor at igorcamera. They are expensive but well worth the money. They will not fit easily over any filter but the Leica E43 series..not a surprise, I guess. You'll love the lens...

"Firstly the correct lens cap with the cutouts for the reversed hood"
I have one, marked "14163" and 54mm.
I also have an Olympus 43mm snap-cap, found on the floor of the Houston International Airport, while stranded just after a huge storm that caused all flights to ne cancelled--but that's another story.
Check with the KEH.com website. They have an impressive array of used Leica caps on hand.

I just bought a generic 43mm lens cap at B&H (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/105566-REG/General_Brand__43mm_Snap_On_Lens_Cap.html). Works fine with my Summilux.

You might want to look for olympus pen F/FT lens caps. the normal 38/1.8, the 25 and 100/3.5
Pen F/FT lenses had 43mm front diameter and push on caps, I believe. With a "gothic"
F on front.
