Ya.. so did I.. I came home to crunch numbers to see how I'm going to pay and I got an email from the seller stating that it had been "sold".
I don't blame him.. I never said "I'll take it !!!" , I said "I'm interested !!" - I've got to learn to use better English .. or at least more assertive English.. in my future "I WANT THAT LENS" emails....

What you're missing, Dave. I'm stunned by people's results from this lens and I've never really been a fan of the aspherics, this may just be my wallet talking though

Dave, 1st do you really need a fast lens like the Summilux?
You really have to get some answer before to make a buy like that.
What do you plan to shoot with this lens, where indoor or outdoor, when day time or night time, etc...
It's just a tool! The rest is personal taste for Asph or Not Asph.
But you are the only one that can answer to your question!
Good luck

Here are a few samples. I am trying to post ones that I have not posted before, or at least recently. I posted a number in that other thread that Nachkebia linked. I do not have much from very recently because I sent out my lens for coding and it took them two freaking months.
So here are a few odd samples, emphasis on odd:

Thanks guys..
hmm.. Do I really "need" that lens?
Well.. I'm going to "test drive" KevinM's pre-ASPH (E46) lux first.
I am a big fan of shooting indoors and wide open to get the thin dof. That's what I like to do... I just don't have anything that can really "do" that right now.
In the past I had played with the Canon 50mm f1.2, f1.4 and f1.8. All were nice.. I kept the f1.2 for quite a bit because of the speed but grew tired of it because of the size and age. The 1.4 seemed to be better but then again.. age.. so.. now I'm going to try out the most recent pre-ASPH lux and see how it performs.
If it's all I want it to be - I may just be happy with it as is - there's always an upgrade path after that though
Oh.. and Magus.. I'll bring back that other avatar soon
Cheers,
Dave

Dave,
Why not the ZM Sonnar 1.5? It seems to be a steal at the price that Popflash offers them for. Just curious as I've been thinking of one myself.

Well-known
zm focuses limit is 0.9, Lux can focus 0.7, besides that lux is much sharper wide open

Thanks for that Stuart. Very interesting read that certainly raises more questions than I had before. It sounds like it can be tweaked to perform acceptably and that it competes with the pre-asph Lux.
