Summilux ASPH vs Noctilux

You may also look into a 35mm voightlander nokton, at f1.2 it is no slouch and i believe photo village has on eon special for $600 which along side a asph lux would probably still be a little cheaper than the noctilux and get you within 1/2 stop of f1.

Where do you see it for $600? I see it for $819. I'd love to get it at $600 though

I've only tried the noctilux and the summilux-asph on a Leica Walkabout sponsored by one of the dealers here. The noctilux is quite big and heavy. For me, it's quite cumbersome for street photography. The image quality is somewhat different - sort of matte-looking (attached). The summilux-asph is very sharp and the weight and size are about right for me.

However, what I do enjoy using now is the 35mm lux-asph. It's quite small and unobtrusive for street photography. I can shoot at lower shutter speeds than with a 50mm.
