Hi. Bought camera off Ebay / Canada.
Summitar 50mm F1.2 Lens 1) won't lock into Infinity and 2) seems unmovable from unscrewing from camera body. Lens focus and F stop rings are both smooth. Lens will pull out / turn to the right - no locking. Need to hold lens while opening Fstop ring to F2. Can the lens be fixed? Does it need repair? Thinking of sending the camera back as the fact I can't remove the lens wasn't mentioned in the auction. What are your thoughts? Thanks.

Firstly the lens is a Summitar 2.0 not a 1.2. The lens clearly needs work. It is a good period lens assuming the glass is not fogged, etched etc.
It does need repair. The fact that it won't lock and it won't come off the body indicates that it may have been subject to moisture and has corroded to the threads.
I would return the rig as it sounds like the body and the lens both need service/repair.

I agree with Ray; get rid of the lens.

Thanks. Initiated EBay return. Includes refund for price paid + shipping + seller needs to send return shipping label.

Different Numbers = Different Auctions!!!!
People update and resell on Ebay - Is this so hard to comprehend?
Check the Ebay auction # to see what auction you are looking at - changes may have happened.
My Auction with Canadian Dealer = eBay item number: 391258083650
Canadian Dealer / Relisted Ebay Auction = eBay item number: 391274597955 - a New - Updated - Ebay Auction!!!!!
Canadian Dealer relisted the auction and added the legal release: "Please be aware that it is a 65 years old camera and could need some cares. We have it checked by a camera collector: Can't remove lens from camera body Can't set lens into infinity Lock. Shutter: 1 sec timer sometimes works. Bottom knob is missing that holds camera to case. Otherwise All shutter speeds work fine, and all knobs and dials are 100% functional."

I hope folks all cool down. I had a few less-than-satisfactory experiences with ebay as well. Most (not all) were resolved. Now, for the most part, I've stopped using ebay. It wasn't always that way, in the olden days most people on ebay were courteous, respectful, honest types. Today I encounter too many deceivers and rudeness. I know of a few honest and friendly sellers on ebay, one has shown up in this thread, but for the most part I simply avoid the inevitable. If a known/trusted seller has something of interest, I can make an exception.
Now, if you want a good, functioning camera with all issues known and disclosed. Look no further than RFF Classifieds. With only one minor exception, I've never had issue here. More often, the transaction becomes a pleasant experience and a way to meet other RFFers. Overall, a good thing. There's a good chance you can find some Barnacks (IIIc or similar) in the Classifieds right now.
BTW, the summitar is an f/2.0 lens, not 1.2. We'd all be quite interested if you had a 50/1.2 Leica lens... But the summitar is a very nice period lens. I know I like it.

Hi,
I guess, in mitigation, that the seller didn't know the lens unscrewed. It's not obvious and you'd not expect it with a lot of cameras and it doesn't happen with a lot of cameras.
Anyway, just my 2d worth. In many ways I'm glad the sellers don't know it all and I'm waiting for a fake Leica to turn up that's a fake because they spelt "Elmar" wrongly with an "x" on the end...

That's actually how I got my nikkor 35mm f2.5 for less than $200. The guy had it advertised as a 3.5. I don't think anyone else actually checked the photos
